The XT Outback seems to be the same power plant as the Forester's with the same problems. I wish that the torque was higher on the 3.0 H6 and that it cranked out a few more hp for a 6 cylinder though. It does seem with a few very limited bolt on's that the power can increase a little bit. When I reached 40,000 miles I switched to Castrol Syntec and noticed zero oil consumption between 3,500 mile oil changes. I now have over 60,000 miles and still zero consumption between changes.
